Team Names

In addition to specifying the team colors, Volleyball Referee Timer now allows you to specify team names. For each organization, the names you enter will be remembered for future use. By remembering them this way, you only need to scroll through the list of team names that are appropriate for each organization; i.e. broken down by High School, College, Juniors, etc.

Because space is limited on the Apple Watch screen, it is recommended to keep team names short and abbreviate, especially for smaller watch sizes.

When you start the warmup timer, you see gray buttons below the color selectors. Tap on one to allow you to choose a team name for that color.

A list of previously entered team names will appear with 4 buttons around the edge. Scroll to the desired team name using the Crown, and tap the green button to select it.

The team name you selected will now be associated with the corresponding team color.
Tap on the other gray button to set the other team name.

If the team name you want is not in the list, you can add a new name using the blue button.
There are 4 ways to enter the new name:

1. The best method is to use your connected iPhone's keyboard. You will see a notification on your iPhone; tap it to bring up a keyboard for text entry on your iPhone.
Note: this will work, even if your Apple Watch and iPhone are in Airplane Mode.

2. Use the keyboard on your Apple Watch.
Note: this is typically only available for larger size watches.

3. Use the "Scribble" pad. This works, but is more difficult to use.
4. Tap the microphone icon in the lower-right and speak the team name to the Apple Watch. This may be problematic if you are in a noisy gym.

Once you have entered the new team name, it will be associated with the corresponding team color. It will also be saved in your team name list for future use.

The team names will now appear at the top of the Timeout buttons.

Tips:

The will clear the team name.

The will delete the name from the list.

Use short names/abbreviations.
